Case Study 4 - Client - Control Risks Group.
Project managed the recovery project on behalf of CRG in the East End of Grand Cayman following Hurricane Ivan. Initially tasked to effect repairs to 20 properties, ultimately 162
homes received assistance. Through sound planning, tight financial control, innovative thinking, coordination between the National Recovery team and the other NGO's the project was
finally completed on time, well under budget and assistance was provided for an additional 142 families.
During Hurricane Ivan this house was picked up by the storm surge and moved 30 metres. The simplest but most expensive option was to knock it down and rebuild it - likely time frame at least 15 months. The most cost effective and quickest solution was to pick it up by crane and put it onto stilts and completely renovate it. Cost savings in excess of £75,000 - time taken 6 weeks.
